Today was all about prepping the wildflower meadow

Today was all about prepping the wildflower meadow for its winter reset!

Zach chopped down the old wildflowers so their seeds could scatter and settle into the soil, and we raked the ground to help those seeds germinate. I also snuck in some time to trim and save a few dried flowers for seed harvesting in the spring. 🌸✨

There’s something so satisfying about this season of letting go while also planting the promise of next year’s blooms.

Slowly but surely, we’re turning our Airbnb into

Slowly but surely, we’re turning our Airbnb into the getaway we’ve envisioned—all while keeping things thrifty and working around a very full calendar! With so many bookings, we don’t have a lot of time (or budget!) to work on big projects, so we squeeze in updates between guests whenever we can.

This week, though, we blocked off time just for us to make some much-needed upgrades. 🎉

Here’s how the back patio is shaping up so far:

1️⃣ Cleared the Garden Beds: Bye-bye, stumps! Out they go!

2️⃣ Layed Down Cardboard: The foundation for a weed-free space! We’re layering it smart from the ground up.

3️⃣ Added Landscaping Fabric: Extra protection to keep those weeds away and make it low-maintenance.

4️⃣ Spread the Stone: Finally, it’s starting to look like a patio! Laying the stone is the first of many steps, but we’re loving how it’s coming together.

What’s next? We’ll be adding cedar privacy screens for a cozy feel, stringing some lights for ambiance, and dreaming up a nice patio set, a grill, and maybe even a little outdoor TV setup!

It’s a slow build, but we know it’ll be worth it. Each project brings us one step closer to giving guests an amazing outdoor space. Can’t wait to see it finished next spring!

We made major headway on clearing out the storage

We made major headway on clearing out the storage room — almost there! One car load went to Goodwill and now we’re just trying to decide on some odds and ends. But we’re hitting pause because tomorrow we’re shifting gears and heading outside.

Next up: laying down stone and prepping the garden beds with cardboard while the weather’s in our favor. 💪The storage room will get its final touch when the rain rolls in later this week. Stay tuned for all the behind-the-scenes progress this week!

Ignore the mess, please.🫣This has been the room we throw everything in last minute before our guests arrive. It’s about time we get all of our supplies organized so we bought a ton of storage bins. Some will go into the shed and others will be stored in closets throughout the house. We definitely have our work cut out for us!

We’ll be turning this room into a bunk room over the next couple months little by little and this is just the very beginning.

The big question: Do you think we should do a stained wood ceiling, or a white shiplap ceiling? 🤔
